Not a baby anymore!

I LOVE my kids!  What mama doesn't, right?  My husband and I decided a long time ago that we want a bunch of kids, like 5, or 6...  I know, we're crazy.  At least that's what my mother tells me!  I just can't believe how fast they grow!  My little man is starting to look like a little man, and make all those growly noises little men make!  So here is a picture to honor baby boys (and girls) growing up too fast!

Merry Christmas!

This was our Christmas card this year.  I love Tiny Prints and other card making sites but they're really not cost effective.  So, this year I designed the card myself in photoshop and then had it printed through wal-mart.  Pretty snazzy, huh!!  It really helps that my kiddos are cutie-patooties!

Friday Night Lights

You have to love high school homecoming and class reunions where adults act like they're back in school!  People are so funny...  We brought the kiddos but it just wasn't meant to be.  They were both tired and cranky so we left at halftime.  Oh well...

Projects I've been working on...

I LOVE blogs.  I have quite a few favorites... probably too many to count.  I am new to sewing but I feel like I have gotten a little jump start on construction knowledge because of my background in architecture.  There are really so many paralells.  Anyway here are some of the projects I've been "cutting my teeth" on.

20 MINUTE SKIRT http://whipstitchfabrics.com/blog/20-minute-skirt-tutorial/
Who knew a skirt could be so easy?  Well, I think it's cute but Calliepie won't wear it!  Maybe next time I should consult her before choosing the fabric!

JACK'S FOOTBALL SHIRT

This was super easy.  Much easier than I expected.  I just used double sided fusible interfacing.  Be careful about steam burns!!

NEWBORN HAT

This was someting I saw in Pregnancy & Newborn mag and thought I could probably do.

I actually like my version better!!

BABY GIFTS

I found a tutorial for super cute baby shoes at Stardust shoes and here is what I came up with...

Super sweet and super soft.  When Dan saw them he asked if I would make him a pair!  The onesie was made with a freezer paper stencil and the softie was just a pattern I made from a picture of an owl I liked.

DANCE BAG

Ok, for this one I used the hobo bag tutorial from MADE (found here http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/tutorial-hobo-sack.html)  but I altered it along the way to accomodate the huge bow on the front.  I couldn't use the drawstring because it obscured the bow too much so I made a strap.  Not my best work but Callie loves it and that's all that matters!

Whew!!!

This past weekend was pretty crazy... We had Callie's party (which took a lot of getting ready for), church and lunch with my "brother". Callie's party took up most of my time but it is totally worth it.  I love to create things, decorate things and bake things so birthdays are my FAVE's!  Plus, it's always great to have family and friends together.
Here are some pics of the party:

I made the tutu's using the tute here http://prudentbaby.blogspot.com/2009/10/tutu-torial.html.  I used 3 yards of tulle instead of 4 (i found it helped the tutu stand out more and I left off the ruffles due to time constraints).

The crowns were made with another tutorial, this one from the long thread found here http://thelongthread.com/?p=5066
The tute says you may need to add stabilizer to BOTH pieces of fabric and I wish I had!
